The Vision

It is our vision to bring the G.G. Green building back to life as a Performing Arts Center that will serve the Gloucester County region, and spur the rebirth of downtown Woodbury. The G.G. Green building was built as a performing arts venue over 100 years ago in an effort to invigorate the local community and the time has come to put that plan back into action. Many local communities across the country have made investments in their arts infrastructure and found that the organizations and their patrons create vibrant and significant improvements to the local economy and provide a center for community engagement and civic pride. The economic impact of the arts in communities is well documented. Thanks to an excellent team from Rowan University, (Economic Impact study) it has been estimated that the G.G. Green Building could generate as much as $4,000,000 in economic activity annually. This includes the creation of new jobs and businesses, increased revenue for existing businesses, and a positive impact on property values throughout the area.

Our goal is to create a venue for a broad array of users and audiences. Of course, in challenging economic times, the arts have suffered and some theaters and arts centers are feeling the pinch. Our team is committed to investigating the best practices in the field, to learn from those arts centers that are thriving, and from those that are struggling. We believe that a performing arts center that combines commercial enterprise, nonprofit visual and performing arts organizations, and education institutions in a shared tenancy arrangement will provide a range of offerings to patrons and create a viable financial model that ensures the long-term success of the venue.

Yet the ability to move a project of this nature forward requires the help and commitment of many sectors and individuals. As private developers we strongly believe that the creation of a thriving arts center will lead to the revitalization of downtown Woodbury. But there is also a role for the community at large, for nonprofit organizations, for Government at all levels, and for private individuals - all working together to get involved to shape the vision and make the vision a reality.

If you believe that the revitalized G.G. Green Arts Center is important to the future of our region, please sign up to receive ongoing updates about the project, and let us know what you think and how you might want to become involved.

We look forward to the day when we can cut the ribbon on the revitalized G.G. Green Arts Center and take our seats for the first of many performances.
